Letter from my daughter Lesley just arrived!
I am always worried about what she is doing at school, and if she is maintaining proper nutrition!
I promised Lesley that I would not mention her in this blog, but I could not resist posting this letter because it was so sweet of her to write!

My Sister just sent me a surprise Birthday present in the mail this morning- this beautiful Italian Postage Stamp!
What a lovely addition to my Postage Stamp Collection!
Does anyone have any thoughts about how to format my collection?  I have everything organized but an hesitant to mat and frame it. Your thoughts would be much appreciated!

Save the Date!
I know that it is a bit early to send out a Save the Date, but I am too excited to wait for warm weather! I am going to go have my invitations printed, and work on documenting my Horseshoe Collection.  Be right back!

I eat Zucchini Carrot Muffins almost every day! However, Applesauce is NOT the most effective.  Yogurt works much better.  My mother in law used to always sneak Applesauce into brownies because her kids did not eat fruit, but it was always apparent and the brownies were always dry.  Always.
Also, Yogurt has less sugar and fat than Applesauce.
Also, Yogurt has important bacteria that children NEED.

I just read Novella Carpenters “Farm City: the Education of an Urban Farmer”, and recently stumbled upon her blog.  She has some really great ideas about rabbits and Urban Farming!
( Sadie, our bunny is very excited by this!)

BBQ Sauce Recipe

  • I have been searching for the perfect BBQ Sauce Recipe, any thoughts? I would really appreciate any help!

Home Made Ice Cream!

Love this recipie for Home Made Ice Cream.  Make sure to follow to directions exactly, it took Sadie and I a couple of times to get it right!

Here’s what you will need to make it:

  • 1 cup milk

  • 1 cup whipping cream

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

  • salt

  • large, 2-pound, 7-ounce coffee can with a plastic lid

  • small, 1-pound coffee can with a plastic lid

  • some ice
Here’s what you have to do:

1. Check with a grown-up before you start.

2. First you’ll need to freeze both of the coffee cans overnight.

3. The next day, mix the milk, cream and sugar together in the small coffee can.

4. Put the lid on and place it inside the larger can.

5. Pack the ice into the larger can around the smaller can, and sprinkle with salt so that it makes your coffee can ice cream maker really cold.

6. Put the lid on the larger coffee can and start rolling it. It takes a while so be patient.

7. Replace the ice when it starts to melt and open up the can and scrape the mixture from the sides once in a while.

8. Keep rolling until it’s thick.

Have Fun!

What a lovely idea! My daughter always breaks cupkcakes in half and then smooshes them back together-making a cupcake sandwich!
